The smoke flavour is inspired by the Swedish tradition of preserving food over burning juniper twigs. Smoking their malt in this way captures this traditional flavour in a whisky with an uniquely Swedish characteristic.   Gruvguld directly translates to “Gold From the Mine” and is an apt name for this whisky which has been aged in small casks of between 30 and 128L and stored 50M below ground in the mine of Bodas. Multiple cask finishes were used including both PX and Olorosso Sherry casks, bottled at 46.1% ABV Our Tasting Notes Nose: Summer fruits and citrus peel, vanilla and spice Palate: sweet toffee mixed with baking spices, with more fruit and honey sweetness late Finish: Not a long finish, more spices and oak.
